The Bully

So I’ve got the outline completed for my next Boulder & Fleet story, and as I mentioned in a recent Thunder Punch Daily, I plan on doing this story in color. So I’ll be doing a little more prep with this story than I did with the first mini-comic. This is a design and color test for a character I plan on introducing in the next story.

Pencil, brush pen, and Photoshop on 4.25×5.5″ bristol.

This is the first thing I’ve colored with my fresh install of Adobe Photoshop CS 5 Extended. Some neat nesting of palettes in this new version, but I have to figure out how to get rid of that inertia scroll they incorporated into it (akin to the scroll you see in iOS devices). Whenever I move around my image I have to spacebar+click to stop the image from slowly gliding in that direction. Either I’m not used to it yet, or it’s just plain annoying.

The same GPU Accelerated scroll/zoom is in CS4, but I eventually turned it off due to the limited resources of my now 5.5 year old machine. Ooof.

I had to turn the inertial-scroll on manually at first, but the option for it was under(for windows) Edit > Preferences > GPU Acceleration – something like that. Hopefully it’s somewhere similar in CS5.

I liked it when doing a lot of work zoomed way in and then having to move to the other side of the image without having to do a lot of click-and-dragging as it just whipped over to the side you needed.
