In this Comics Are Great “Special,” we have a panel discussion with some local teen cartoonists at the Ann Arbor District Library Mallets Creek Branch. Snow, Olivia, Natalia, and Caleb are all people under the age of 18 who have demonstrated a deep enthusiasm for telling stories through our medium, and they take some time to share their experiences and thoughts on making comics.

Wherever you are in your cartooning career, I think you’ll find the insights and advice of these teens worth a listen.

Such a fun, articulate bunch. I am so jazzed for the kids who are participating in these classes and workshops. I’m living my childhood dream vicariously through them. Would have been over the moon at that age if there were resources like this available. Great work you’re doing Jerzy. Hats off to these young creative geniuses! Inspiring!!!

Thanks so much! You’ve brought up one of the big reasons I do all the teaching/advocacy work in my area. I would’ve chewed a limb off to get access to this kind of programming when I was a kid. And as you heard, the students are proving to be a brilliant bunch of people who will make some big changes in our beloved medium. Really excited for the future of comics. 🙂
