It’s a Halloween-themed episode with a talk on what characterizes a scary story, and we’ve got a full roundtable of people well-suited for the job! I’m joined by Jon David Guerra, Paul Storrie, and Dave Carter, who help to draw the line between “disturbing” and “frightening,” and how telling a story visually presents a unique challenge when creating scary stories.
We close, as always, with a bunch of great comics recommendations when we’re joined by Erin Helmrich of the Ann Arbor District Library.

Ladies if you are like me and in circa 1978 were doing the Wonder Woman transformation spin as a vestibular exercise to do well in preschool then by all means try to meet Dave Carter for lunch. I met Dave Carter once and it was the most fullfilling 15 minutes I ever had with an expert on Comics and superheroes. Some people you meet just live what they love and can tell you anything about it. That is the vibe this comic genius gives off and oh what a great experience. Long live comic art and people like these guys who keep it going with enthusiasm, knowledge, and talent. Loved the Comics are Great is it Scary show!
