Comics for the iPad!

Today marks the beginning of something really neat for comics. Cartoonist Dani Jones has launched The Illustrated Section Store, which promises to be one of the repositories for terrific independent comics works optimized for reading on tablet devices like the iPad.

There are already a ton of great comics there, including Dani’s My Sister, the Freak, Sara Turner’s The Ghosts of Pineville, and Josh Alves’ The Araknid Kid!

I’ve even got a few books on there! You can now get my 200+ page graphic novel The Front: Rebirth and my full-color The Origin of Jared in convenient PDF format to be read on your tablet device on readers like Stanza or iBooks!

If you’ve searched the Apple Apps Store for comics, you’ve no doubt seen some attempts to create comics for these tablet devices. Some are good, some not so much. My chief complaint about the situation is that most of these apps and iBooks represent efforts by the big publishers of super hero and licensed properties. Up until now I’ve not seen a place for indy works with a singular voice and vision.

So head on over today and check out some terrific comics for the iPad! Some of them are totally free!
