This week I was invited to discuss the value of making comics as a project pitch on Chris Oatley’s ArtCast. We threw around some ideas about how the quality, tone, and essence of a story is more immediately discernible when it is in comics form (as opposed to a script or novel), the value of getting your story out there before looking for a publisher, and how working on your personal projects can lead to landing professional gigs.

We’re later joined by Thomas James of the Escape from Illustration Island podcast for some talk on what it takes to “finish”. In other words, what are the mindset and disciplines needed in order to see a project through to the end? Must you see every project through? Some interesting talk during that segment.
