The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum
Went to the Festival of Cartoon Art on the campus of Ohio State University this weekend, and was simply blown away by the pieces assembled in the museum.
Original John Buscema, EC Segar, Lynn Johnston, Milton Caniff, and more on display. A wonderfully eclectic display that makes a statement with which I strongly agree: It's all comics, let's embrace it.
Sat in on some of the talks by folks like Christopher Couch and Danny Fingeroth, highlighting the history of Eisner's work and new ways to incorporate comics into one's curriculum. Damian Duffy's talk on "hypercomics" was especially fun and interesting (http://j2d2arts.blogspot.com/2013/11/damians-dissertation-proposal.html).
I wish I could've stayed for the whole weekend, but one day was pretty awesome.
